Unskilled Jobs With Visa Sponsorship in Canada Available – Looking to relocate to Canada? Finding employment in the process can be tricky, especially if you’re not prepared with visa sponsorship opportunities from prospective employers.
Working legally in Canada will depend on the kind of job you qualify for through various government-approved sponsorship programs, and many of these opportunities do not include highly skilled workers, such as engineers and professors, but instead offer work visas to skilled and unskilled laborers alike. To get started finding unskilled jobs with visa sponsorship in Canada available, follow these steps.
Work Without A Work Permit
It’s possible to work without a permit, but only if you’re working for an employer that doesn’t require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). There are many jobs out there that don’t require one. The most common ones are live-in caregiving and farm jobs. Also, as a foreign worker your visa will not be affected if you choose to switch employers or even leave Canada at any time during your stay.

Open To Skilled Trades, Semi-Skilled And Low-Skilled Applicants
Low-Skilled Visas: Low-skilled workers can apply to get working visas, if they have already obtained job offers from Canadian employers. The application process is very straightforward, and work permits are awarded quickly.
There are certain conditions that these workers must meet to be eligible to apply. For example, they must have: been offered a full-time job that pays at least C$ 24 per hour; or earned at least C$ 18 per hour (or worked at least 200 hours in a three month period) before being eligible to apply.
No Job Offer Required
If you want to take advantage of sponsorship opportunities offered by many of these programs, you do not need an employer to sponsor your work visa. If you are able to prove that you have enough financial support and will not be a burden on any government agency or other institution, you may be eligible for a self-sponsorship visa.
You must be able to prove that your personal net worth is at least $10,000 CAD and that you have $2,000 CAD in your bank account. If we assume a current exchange rate of 1 USD:1 CAD, then $2,000 CAD equates to roughly $1,500 USD. Short Term Only (6 Months to 5 Years)
If you are looking to work in Canada without a skilled job offer, you may qualify for a short-term work permit that’s valid between 6 months and 5 years. To be eligible, your prospective employer must provide specific details about their business and explain why they can’t find Canadian workers to fill any of their positions.
One common example: Employers seeking temporary foreign workers to operate remote or northern areas of their business with inadequate labour pools (i.e., those where it is more difficult to hire Canadians). A labour market opinion is usually required before applying.
Move at Anytime!
Since Canadians have access to so many types of visas and permits, they have lots of flexibility when it comes to job searching. Need a change? No problem! If you’re currently working as a caregiver, domestic helper, or even chef, you can apply for an open work permit.
This will allow you to look for another full-time or part-time position at any employer that offers one – without having to apply again through an embassy or consulate abroad. While some occupations might require more specific documentation than others (like proof of language ability and additional education), there are no quotas on work permits like there are with Visas and Permanent Residency options.
