Overview
The job of a hotel is to provide guests with lodging and services in their room. The task varies according to individual circumstances, but some jobs include cleaning and maintaining rooms, while others manage guest records. Specific tasks depend on an employee’s role at a particular hotel, so individual hotels may list additional duties online or on their applications.
Typically, hotels offer temporary employment opportunities such as summer jobs and part-time work. With proper experience or a degree from a hospitality management program, however, individuals can advance into managerial roles that involve larger staffs and more responsibility over financial aspects of the business. Job seekers without prior experience should carefully research any available positions to understand hiring expectations before applying for any jobs.
